The Apache Hadoop is an software solution for the distributed computing of large datasets. The  Hadoop provides an  distributed filesystem (HDFS) and an  Mapreduce  implementation.

The  special computer acts as the name node. This computer saves the information about the available clients &  the files. The Hadoop clients ( or the computers) are called nodes. The  name node  is currently an single point of failure. The Hadoop project is working on the solutions for this.

The Apache Hadoop can be used to filter & aggregate data, for e.g. an typical use case would be the analysis of the  web server logs file to find the most visited pages. But the MapReduce has been use to transverse the graphs & the other tasks
